Albuquerque, NM – New Mexico Safety Over Profit (NMSOP) is a consumer advocacy group formed to give patients and families a voice against profit-driven corporations, insurance and industry, and to protect their rights to access justice when corporate greed, neglect and fraud cause serious harm. New Mexico now has the highest rate of private equity-owned hospitals in the nation. In a recent Harvard study, private equity-owned hospitals had decreased staffing and quality of care, and increased mortality, morbidity and claims.
