New Mexico Safety Over Profit Names Johana Bencomo as Executive Director

Las Cruces, New Mexico, September 16, 2025 -- Johana Bencomo, a respected social justice advocate and progressive leader, has assumed leadership of New Mexico Safety Over Profit (NMSOP), an organization dedicated to protecting the rights and safety of New Mexicans from corporate and institutional exploitation and harm.

“I am deeply honored to step into this role and build on NMSOP’s courageous advocacy. With 15 years of experience in community organizing and policy advocacy, I am committed to ensuring that those harmed by systemic neglect are not only heard but centered in shaping policy solutions. Together, we will chart a bold path forward that delivers lasting justice and opportunity for all New Mexicans,” said Bencomo.

Her energy and proven ability to stand with those whose voices have been silenced will surely strengthen the fight against billion-dollar corporations and insurance companies.
